Samaria Gorge Easy Way
If you want to get a taste of the majestic and spectacular Samaria Gorge but do not quite feel up to the challenge of doing the long hike, this is the right excursion for you!
Stretching for some 16 km through the White Mountains, the George of Samaria is one of Europe's longest and wildest. Hiking through the gorge and descending from an altitude of almost 1.000m to sea level is a fantastic experience if you are a nature lover and active person.
The landscape is ever-changing, from alpine, lush green trees to barren and rocky. You will follow a river-bed until you reach the most photographed spot: the spectacular "Iron Gates", where the rockfaces only leave a small passage for the river to run through.
Then it is just a few kilometres to the sea and the small village of Agia Roumeli. You can wash off the dust with a refreshing swim in the Libyan Sea and have lunch before getting on a boat to start your return trip via the South Coast.
This experience of untamed, majestic nature and wild beauty will remain in your memory for a long time.
